Chorus Niagara Artistic Director Robert Cooper joins Classical Jukebox to discuss Bernstein’s “Mass”

Daniel spoke with Robert Cooper, the longtime artistic director of Chorus Niagara. Robert shared with us about the group’s upcoming concert May 31st, 7:30pm at First Ontario Performing Arts Centre (250 St Paul St, St. Catharines).

The concert will feature a performance of Leonard Berestein’s “Mass”, which hasn’t been heard in Canada since the 1980’s, originally written for the opening of the Kennedy Centre in 1971.

Along with Chorus Niagara, Robert has brought together singers from all throughout the community, including the Laura Secord Secondary School Chamber Choir, Chorus Niagara Children’s Chorus, singer/actor Nathan Keoughan as well as six young rock/pop singers to help fulfill this great work.
