The New Classical 96.3 FM is proud to be a radio sponsor of the 2010 BROTT SUMMER MUSIC FESTIVAL

BROTT SUMMER MUSIC FESTIVAL SERENADES MUSIC-LOVERS FROM JUNE 16 TO AUGUST 20 WITH A VARIETY OF GENRES

“We’re going to take music lovers to the movies, bring the planets down to earth, and cool the hot summer with our jazz. And celebrate the two hundredth anniversary of two of the world’s favorite composers – Chopin and Schumann – all in 10 weeks this summer.” So promises Boris Brott, about the 23rd Brott Music Festival.

Under Maestro Brott’s artistic direction, the annual summer festival presents orchestral concerts with the National Academy Orchestra, intimate recitals with great singers and stellar instrumental soloists, opera, dance, even visual art, and a salute to The King (Elvis, of course).

Details are available at www.brottmusic.com. Tickets may be ordered online or by calling 1-888-475-9377, or 905-525-SONG (7664). Group rates are available for groups of 10 or more.

Three orchestral concerts of Beethoven in Burlington open this year’s Brott Music Festival. For three Wednesdays in June, starting June 16, 7:30 p.m. at St. Christopher’s Anglican Church, Boris Brott conducts the National Academy Orchestra in music by Beethoven and more, with special guest soloists – internationally celebrated Canadian cellist Denise Djokic (“arrestingly beautiful tone colour” – The Strad), leading Italian clarinetist Giampiero Sobrino, returning for his third Brott Festival appearance, and Jonathan Crow, one of Canada’s foremost violinists.

Patrons can save 20 per cent by purchasing all three concerts at one time.

The National Academy Orchestra gives 45 young Canadian musicians professional orchestral experience. Joining them are leading professional musicians who serve as mentors.

Geneviève Leclair – winner in March of the Sir Ernest MacMillan Memorial Foundation Award for conducting – returns for a second season as apprentice conductor with the NAO. Originally from Montreal and currently a doctoral student at Boston University, she shares her apprentice duties with Samuel Tam. A graduate of McGill University, Tam served as apprentice conductor at the Canadian Opera company, 2007-2009, and until recently was assistant to David Briskin at the University of Toronto, where he rehearsed and conducted the U of T Symphony Orchestra in 2009-10. RBC is the proud sponsor of the Apprentice Conductor position.
