Green Onion Restaurant
6596 Old Collamer Road
East Syracuse, NY

Travelling to Western New York? It is a beautiful drive along I-90 East to Syracuse. Stop to shop in Rochester or go south to visit the Finger Lakes district along the way. Get back on I-90 East and take exit 35 to highway 298 south, to the traffic cirle. Go around the circle until you see the exit for Collamer Road. There are plenty of nice Hotels in the area such as the Double Tree and the Hampton Inn. Right across from the Hampton Inn is the Green Onion in a beautifully converted old home that was built in 1840. The atmosphere can get busy but only soft music is piped in. The dining room is small but nicely decorated, the food and service is excellent, and the prices are very reasonable. I had my dinner there around 8:30 on a Friday evening just after checking into my room at the Hampton, so I was almost alone excet for 4 other people and a pair of friendly locals in the adjacent lounge/bar. I had a beautiful Greek salad topped with chicken breast, and a light vinagrette. Greek style rice wrapped in vine leaves complimented the dish. It was a very nice and peaceful dining experience. Run by a very dedicated family whose name is Siracuse, like the town but spelled differently. This restaurant is a must if you are in the Syracuse area. Remember Syracuse is the home of the farm team for the Toronto Blue Jays!

My husband and I went out for diner last night to a new fine dining restaurant downtown Brampton, across the street from the Rose Theater. This restaurant was beautiful, quiet and romantic. The food was very tasty and the presetation and service were great. We enjoyed a bottle of wine and some delicious prime rib and salmon. They played soft conversation music, ballads by Andrea Bocelli and Michael Buble. It was truly a wonderful evening!

when I go out, I love to go to a place that is Quiet, differnet than the usual spots, and great for special ocadions.  The music is soft, and the food superb.  I took my whole family there, for an anniversary and biorthday celebration last month, and while it was relaxing music playing, we could hear each other! That speaks volumes for the volume!

Merlot Restaurant

We've been going there for years: one of the best French bistros in the city. It starts-off quietly enough around 7.00pm or so, but by 9pm you cannot hear yourself think ! (Also, what about the exhaust-noise levels from trucks, buses and some cars ?) How about a 'ZOOMER APPROVED' window sticker for restaurants, where the atmosphere is conducive to a pleasant meal ? along the lines of the City hygiene notices.

Trattoria Leonardo

Etobicoke, ON

If you remember italian dining from the 70's and 80's, then you must visit Trattoria Leonardo.  Again, very few young people.  It always full of zoomers.  Try it...I don't think you will have any regrets.  My favourite...veal with vegetables.  Brushetta to die for.  Bon Appetit

"My husband and I recently dined at the above restaurant, where the service and food were  both excellent.  Added to this was a bonus, my husband and I can't even remember if there was music or not. If there was, and there probably was, it was so toned down, that it did not interfere with our dining experience. I would like to add one more comment.  I have noticed, unfortunately, that the commercials on you outstanding radio station are somewhat 'louder' than the rest of the broadcasts.  Especially the ""Marineland"" commercial, which you play year after year.  This practically drives me insane. Haing said that, I am a loyal listener, and have 96.3fm on in my car, on all of my radios in the house, and when I go to France, I have 96.3 fm with me on my laptop!  Sincerely, Heather Kilian"

We took our daughter and son-in-law out to dinner at Turtle Jack's in Guelph to celebrate their wedding anniversary and had to shout at each other throughout the meal. NOT a good situation. DIVA Indian Restaurant and DIANA'S DOWNTOWN here in Guelph have quieter music. Thank you so much for this much needed effort!
